A professional hairstylist, identified as Sebastine Timothy, has been killed by suspected armed robbers in the Satellite Town area of Lagos State.
The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday in the Olasanoye Street neighborhood. According to a police source, Sebastine was attacked shortly after returning home from work.
“A complaint was made to the police that he was attacked in his apartment after returning from work on Sunday night. The robbers stole his belongings, transferred money from his bank account, and shot him in the head,” the source said. Neighbors discovered his lifeless body after hearing gunshots, while the assailants fled the scene.
In a separate account, a platform known for tracking cult-related activities linked the attack to a suspected cult conflict. According to the report, the attackers had initially planned to target Sebastine’s brother, a member of the Aye cult. When they could not find him, they turned on Sebastine, forcing him to transfer money from his phone before shooting him in the head.
Many mourned the hairstylist’s death, with one social media user describing him as hardworking and expressing shock at his killing.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, said Sebastine sustained a head injury during an altercation with unidentified men and died en route to the hospital. It was unclear whether the injury was caused by a gunshot or a machete. The family reported the incident to the police before taking the body to the mortuary.
This tragedy follows other recent violent attacks in the state, including a case in October where two teenagers were killed during a robbery at a barbershop in the Cele Nica community of Ojo. Residents continue to call for increased police patrols amid repeated reports of cult-related attacks and armed robberies.
